Background: Here at UMass, faculty office hours tend to be saturated quickly. This phenomenon can become even more serious in a classroom with 200+ students. Imagine a student who is hard-working and loves to ask questions seeing a dozen students waiting outside professor’s office. The students realizes that it was not a good timing. Still, it was a long distance to rush from dorm to here. The reason this happens is because the student could not have known the current state of the office hour and he/she could have planned ahead if there were some guidance.
Description: Introducing Ice Queb, a cross platform mobile app that serves as an reference for the students to get a sense of the current state of an office hour. On the app, students can view the length of a queue of a office hour section in real time and decide whether or not they want to attend to that office hour. If they don't mind waiting and the line is short, they can join that queue for the office hour. They will leave the queue once their problems are resolved.
